October 16-22, 2022, is National Friends of Libraries Week. We would like to take a moment to thank our Friends group for all they do for the Library.
Who are the Friends and what do they do? The Friends most visible service is the quarterly Book Sales. We wouldn’t be able to have them without all the volunteer time the Friends give to make them happen. They use the money from the sales and membership dues to support the Library and the Library’s mission to “champion every person’s right to information and resources.” They give money to school libraries, local literary projects, and to a Teen Services Award for an outstanding Library Volunteer. As generous as they are with giving in the community the Coralville Public Library is their biggest beneficiary. In 2022 they gave the Library $10,000 to fund Reading Challenges, Adult Craft Kits, and new programs and collections coming soon! Once again we can not thank our Friends enough for all they do.
