Friends of the Library

Mission

The Friends of the Coralville Public Library is a non-profit organization that provides volunteer and financial support to the Coralville Public Library. Our mission is the promotion of reading; to this end, we support the resources, services and needs of the Coralville Public Library that are not covered by city funds. Our goals are to:

Stimulate public support of the Library

Encourage greater community use of the Library

Share our time and talents with the Library

Help the Library develop its services and facilities

A member is a special part of a whole—a connecting structure—a unit of support.

That is what you are as a member of the Friends of the Coralville Public Library. You have opportunities to join activities and be a part of projects serving our community. Your dues help with services and materials that maintain the leadership of our fine Library.

Anyone can be a Friend! Forms and dues can be picked up and dropped off at the front desk of the Coralville Public Library. Questions and comments can be directed to the Friends at their e-mail address FriendsOfCoralvillePL@gmail.com or by leaving a note at the front desk.

Book Sales

Questions and comments can be directed to the Friends at their e-mail address FriendsOfCoralvillePL@gmail.com or by leaving a note at the front desk of the Coralville Public Library.  Many Book Sale questions can be answered by Library Staff.

The Friends hold quarterly Book Sales.  Book sale hours are 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Fridays and 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Saturdays. All sales are held in the lower level of the Coralville Public Library, 1401 Fifth Street, Coralville, Iowa.

Over 7000 used books offer buyers a broad range of reading material. There are no prices.  They are pay what you want, free will donation sales.

Many hands make light work. Email us if you would be interested in helping with the Friends Book Sales.

Members get early access to book sales the Thursday, before each sale, 5:00-6:30 pm.

Donate to the Friends

The Friends of the Coralville Public Library is a non-profit organization that provides financial support to the Coralville Public Library and literary activities in Coralville. Friends funds are used to acknowledge Library volunteers, provide Library reading challenge prizes, support new Library initiatives, and more!  In the community the Friends support School Libraries, put books in Little Free Libraries, and give books to the prison.

You can donate to the Friends with the below Donate button, by dropping off a check at the Circulation Desk, or mailing a check to the Library – 1401 5th Street, Coralville, IA 52241. Make checks out to the Friends of the Coralville Public Library.

Donate materials to Book Sales

You can donate your gently used books, CDs, DVDs, records, puzzles, or games at the Library Circulation Desk. Any books that are not added to the collection will go to the Friends of the Library book sales. Media and books should be in good condition and donated during Library hours.

Unfortunately at this time we cannot accept:

  • Old encyclopedias
  • Old computer books
  • Textbooks more than 10 years old
  • Cassette tapes
  • Video tapes
