2013 Season
She Stoops to Conquer - by Oliver Goldsmith – Thursday, April 25 @ 10:00 am
Oliver Goldsmith’s funniest and most famous play centers on intelligent, well-bred Kate, who passes herself off as a barmaid in order to win the heart of her suitor. Filled with mistaken identities and deception, the play pokes fun at the various masks we all wear in social situations and proves just as relevant today as when it first appeared in 1773.
A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum - by Sondheim, Shevelove, & Gelbart – Thursday, May 30th @ 10:00 am
“Broadway's greatest farce is light, fast-paced, witty, irreverent and one of the funniest musicals ever written. A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum takes comedy back to its roots, combining situations from time-tested, 2000 year old comedies of Roman playwright Plautus with the infectious energy of classic vaudeville” (Music Theatre International). There truly is something for everyone!
Blackbird - by David Harrower – Thursday, June 27th @ 10:00 am
Fifteen years after a brief relationship when Ray was 40 and Una was 12, Una finds Ray (after spending time in jail for his offense) and questions him about the taboo affair that has marked her for life. After rebuilding his life under a new name, Ray wants to leave the past where it lies. "Harrower's drama positively explodes with unresolved, and possibly irresolvable, concerns . . . his brooding ambiguity and his dry, resonating poetry culminate in one of the most daring new plays of recent years” (Sunday Herald).
