The Coralville Public Library is proud of its co-ed summer softball team. Known as the Dewey Decimators, the team was founded in the spring of 2008 by Mike Jorgensen and Kate Dale, two CPL librarians. After our inaugural game, an article about the team appeared in the local edition of the Gazette newspaper.

Library staff, family of staff, and a few librarians from neighboring Iowa City Public Library make up the team. The Dewey Decimators get their name from the Dewey Decimal classification system, which is used in most American public libraries. Our jerseys feature numbers from the Dewey Decimal system chosen to indicate a player's particular area of interest. Some examples of Decimator jersey numbers are:
